Registration 2012-2013
Dear Parents/Guardians:
This is an important time of year for us as we look ahead to the 2012-2013 school year. Registration for next year is now taking place at St. Cecilia School.
I am pleased to announce some exciting new programs and initiatives that are in place for next year. We are excited to announce that our Pre-K program will be expanding next year. We will be offering both a half day and a full-day program for pre-k 3 and pre-k 4. Our pre-k students will also be joining us in our main building next year. We are so happy that they will now be in the same building as the rest of the school. The pre-k students will even be wearing St. Cecilia gym uniforms to school every day. Our youngest students are such a special part of our school community so we are looking forward to having the opportunity to include them more in our school programs.
Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 will be moving into our second and third grade classrooms. The downstairs floor will be an early childhood center with pre-k through first grade classrooms. Our second and third grade classrooms will be moving to the space currently occupied by the library. During the summer, we will be doing renovations on this room to divide it into two classrooms for the second and third grade. In addition, the second and third grade will have two additional rooms in that area of the building to use for their program. We are looking forward to providing these two primary grades with a beautiful space to learn in. In order to accommodate these changes, we will be moving our library into the current pre-k building. The children will be able to visit the library each week to borrow books as they always have.
Beginning in September, we will be providing a Before Care Program for families in need of it. The doors to the school will be opening at 6:45am next year. The children will be able to gather and wait for the start of the day in Powers Hall. The actual school day will begin each morning with prayer at 7:40am. There will be no charge for the Before Care Program. We hope this extra service will be helpful to our families.
At St. Cecilia School, we are committed to providing our students with programs that are important to them and to their families. Therefore, students in kindergarten through eighth grade will be attending Phys. Ed. classes twice a week next year.
I am very grateful to all our parents for your cooperation and support of St. Cecilia School. I look forward to continuing to partner with you to help our students be successful and have a wonderful school experience. St. Cecilia School is committed to offering academic excellence in a nurturing Christian environment; preparing today’s children to become tomorrow’s leaders.
Don’t forget about our tuition incentive program. If you recommend St. Cecilia School to another family and they register at our school, you will receive $350.00 off your tuition. The new family must mention your name and tell us you referred them when they register. Please help us spread the good news about St. Cecilia School!
I look forward to the 2012-2013 school year. Thank you for choosing St. Cecilia School for your child’s education.
Sincerely,
Ann Mitchell

Catholic Schools Week Events
Dear Parents/Guardians:
We will be celebrating Catholic Schools Week beginning Sunday, January 29th. The theme this year is Catholic Schools: Faith. Academics. Service. At St. Cecilia School, we offer academic excellence in a nurturing Christian environment; preparing today’s children to become tomorrow’s leaders. During Catholic Schools Week, we celebrate the wonderful students, faculty, and school we have here at St. Cecilia.
Catholic Schools Week will begin with a special Mass on Sunday, January 29th at 9:15am at St. Cecilia Church. I ask that students attend Mass in their school uniforms to represent our school. Following Mass, there will be an Open House from 10:00am – 12:30pm. If you know of a family that is interested in St. Cecilia School, please invite them to attend. Don’t forget about our tuition incentive program. If you recommend St. Cecilia School to another family and they register here, you will get $350.00 off your tuition. The new family must mention your name when they register. Please help us spread the good news about St. Cecilia School and welcome new families to our school. Registration for the 2012-2013 school year for current families will begin during Catholic Schools Week. Registration packets will be sent home in your family folders.
On Monday, January 30th, we will be having a “Service Day” during which the students will be working on a school wide service project. The students will be making blankets for Project Linus. Project Linus is named after Charles Schulz’s character from the PEANUTS comic strip who was comforted by his blanket. Project Linus distributes blankets across the United States to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. On January 30th, students in kindergarten through eighth grade will be gathering in Powers Hall at 12:30pm to make these blankets. Our pre-k students will also be participating in the project. The material for the blankets we will be making has already been purchased. We are asking that each student bring in $5.00 as a donation to cover the costs of the material. Also, if there are any parents who would like to assist with this project, please let your child’s teacher know.
Tuesday, January 31st will be “Our Nation Day.” Students are invited to dress down in red, white and blue. During the day, students will make cards for members of the armed forces. Wednesday, February 1st will be “Buddy Day.” Students will have an opportunity during the day to meet up with their buddies for an activity. Also, the typing contest for finalists in grades 4 & 5 will be held at 2:30pm. Thursday, February 2nd will be “Student Day.” Students will have double gym periods and no homework will be assigned. The typing contest for finalists in grades 6, 7, & 8 will be held at 2:30pm. On Friday, February 3rd, there will be a school Mass at 8:00am for students in pre-k 4 through eighth grade. All families are welcome to attend. At 10:00am, we will have “M&M Bingo” for pre-k 4 through eighth grade.
I look forward to a wonderful Catholic Schools Week during which we can celebrate everything that makes St. Cecilia School so special. Thank you for your support of St. Cecilia School.
Sincerely,
Ann Mitchell
