Technology in St. Cecilia School is continually improving.

The Computer Lab of St. Cecilia School currently has sixteen new Pentium 4 Dell computers and one HP color laser jet printer. The school contracts one computer teacher who works with all the children K-8 one class period per week on a set computer curriculum which correlates with the state standards and the diocesan guidelines as well as coordinates with the teachers for various specialized topics. The teachers utilize the computer lab as well for a variety of curriculum-based projects.

Each of the Classrooms have a minimum of three computers with printers for the children to use for various tasks. Most are internet accessible for the purpose of resource and virtual on line tours in all subject areas. All are equipped with Microsoft Office 2000/2002. All of the classrooms are equipped with a 27" color TV/VCR with connection to a computer and internet for whole class viewing and presentation of projects. Recently, e-mail has been set up in all the classrooms for the teachers use. Some classrooms are also equipped with scanners for the purpose of copying student projects to post on our school website as well as use for incorporating the work into presentations.

Our School Library is equipped with five computers, which are all connected to the internet. Students use these computers for research and various other subject related assignments. It also has an inkjet printer and a laser jet printer available for school use. Its 27" TV is connected to a VCR and a computer to allow group viewing. Besides the abundant collection of books and resource materials, St. Cecilia’s Library lists 575 educational videos at all levels to be incorporated into our classroom curriculums. There are 216 CD software programs, which are offered for use as teaching tools and follow up reinforcement. To enhance our science curriculum, a microscope/projector combination is used to examine many slides of various biological samples. This allows the students to view a large version of what ordinarily a small microscope would show them without the problems of adjusting each individual instrument. It also allows for group viewing and discussion. Our future goal for St. Cecilia Library is to computerize the library.

Our school has a Website, stceciliaschool.net, which provides an overview of our school. We also have a projector, which is connected to a laptop computer and a VCR for both floors. This allows presentations to be made and viewed on a large screen rather than on a computer or TV size screen. These are attached to rolling carts for easy use. We have  wireless connections for the internet in order to access internet information and project it on the large viewing screen.

The diocesan and state curriculum guidelines expect us to be technology friendly by the year 2005 for children and teachers as well. Proudly, we can say that we have achieved this goal and continue to improve on our technological knowledge and skills.

St. Cecilia’s School accepts donations and contributions from individuals and corporations including matching funds.
